Zumba! The New Way to Get Fit and Have Fun!

Zumba has grown in popularity since its introduction in the 1990s now being used as a major form of exercise in over 90,000 fitness centres and through over 100 different countries. The dance exercise is recognized as an excellent form of exercise working all parts of the body particularly the cardiovascular system. This is a combination of both Latin and international music that is put together with a dance. The dance influences in Zumba are broad ranging from Salsa and Mambo to Merengue and Flamenco. It also includes variations of Samba, Hip Hop, Belly dancing and even the Tango within the well planned movements.

Zumba isnt just a hap hazard dance to music. In fact the steps are put together so that you are having a great time while each movement works a particular part of the body. Because the workout is always moving and flows it feels more like fun than a workout and yet it does an amazing job. The combination of the many different movements makes it easy to flow from a cardio workout to toning and strengthening of muscles all over the body and then back again. When you are finished you know that you have completed the exercise but you had so much fun doing it that you dont mind the work.

The Zumba classes are typically taught by licensed professionals at exercise and fitness clubs and some dance clubs. In addition to being able to go to Zumba class and experience the fun of dancing with many you can also find many at home programs. These programs can be used in conjunction with your in facility work outs or can be strictly used. Many find that a big part of the fun of Zumba is doing it with a group. It has the feeling of going out dancing.

Zumba is not age specific and even children can enjoy it. The techniques used in Zumba are intended to work the muscles of the body as they were intended. By using the muscles of the body in a manner that naturally causes resistance, Zumba works the body in the most basic way giving a sleek healthy over all look and feeling. The feeling after becoming accustomed to Zumba is one of strength and stamina. A feeling of good health overall comes from this exercise plan and the more you do it, the more you love it.
